Cats, Lint Balls, and Zero Thread-Dropping: AI as Assistive Technology

Talk by Rayvn ManuelPart of All Things Open 2026

Duration
Raleigh Convention Center, Raleigh, NC

When an AI extracts perfect sense from a prompt that resembles a tossed word salad, it hasn’t become sentient. It has learned and adapted to your cognitive engagement style: your voice, your vibe, and even your word choice.

This talk presents A³T (AI-Augmented Assistive Technology), a cognitive framework that calibrates the AI to the user’s cognitive signature and positions it as a collaborative cognitive assistive technology rather than a tool. For neurodivergent people, the shift means the difference between reactive inefficiency and an effective way of working.

For neurodivergent AI users, people working in cognitive therapies, makers and builders, AI engineers and decision makers, and anyone who has felt that AI could do more. Part of the free Inclusion & Diversity in Open Source co-located event.
